The Golf Course

Like many links courses created around the turn of the twentieth century, Aberdovey is very much an out and back loop, and is affected distinctly by the elements.

The wind coming off the bay can range from a gentle breeze to a howling gale, transforming the character of the course in turn. New tees have lengthened the existing James Braid layout to attract more tournament golf to the links; having previously hosted a number of national amateur events, Aberdovey is a well established championship venue.

What our guests say about us
“A very tough challenge, we played it on its word day (links day). Blowing a gale and being trapped in-between the dunes and mountains it creates a real challenge to judge wind direction, onto of that, poured down with rain the whole front 9. A true test to any golfer but worthy of its top 3 spot in Wales.”
“Top top golf course! Up their with some of the best links courses in the country. A few special holes including 2, 4, 8, 11. Tough 1st hole and tough 18th hole... great test of golf. Throw some raised championship tees in the mix and it's a proper championship course!”
“Tough into the wind, then a relief to play down wind on the back nine! Very welcoming and helpful staff in the pro-shop, useful practice facilities to warm up before the round.”
“Great Golf Course. A challenging layout with fast and true greens. The staff in the shop and club house are very friendly and accommodating. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this as a must visit course.”
“Superb classic links course with greens in great condition. Excellent pro shop and restaurant/bar too, both with very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended!”
