Job Overview
The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of golf course maintenance and the presentation of a championship links golf course, ranked in the Top 100 courses in the UK & Ireland. The role of a greenkeeper requires a proactive individual who is hardworking, with a flexible approach to working hours (weekend working essential), an eye for detail and a passion for what they do.
Job Functions
1. Day to day cutting of playing surfaces, changing holes, setting up the golf course for play, preparing bunkers, spraying.
2. Construction, aeration and turfing works.
3. Attention to detail, ensuring that the golf course is presented in the best possible condition to exceed the expectations of members, guests and visitors at all times.
4. Understand the Club’s policies in relation to health & safety and ensure that all duties performed are carried out in a safe manner.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Used to outdoor working with an ability to operate a wide range of golf course machinery.
- Knowledge of turf diseases and the methods and chemicals used to control them.
- Experience of links turf management and relevant spraying qualifications an advantage.
- Hard working, with an eye for detail and keenness to learn (pursuit of NVQ qualifications is strongly encouraged).
- An understanding of golf, the rules of the game and golfer requirements.
