The Talyllyn Railway is a historic narrow-gauge steam railway, set in the beautiful Mid-Wales countryside. Running from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol, the line passes the delightful Dolgoch Falls and there are excellent forest walks at Nant Gwernol. www.talyllyn.co.uk
The county of Gwynedd boasts 3 of the Top 100 courses in the UK. An hour North from Aberdovey by road finds the championship links of Royal St David's in Harlech www.royalstdavids.co.uk. To make a different day of it, leave the car behind and catch a train from outside Aberdovey Golf Club and take in the views and scenery all along the magnificent Cambrian Coast railway line. The train will deposit you a hundred yards or so from Royal St David's.

A further 45 minutes by road from there brings you to Nefyn & District Golf Club www.nefyn-golf-club.com perched on cliffsides where holes reach out into a stunning peninsula, and where you see the ocean from every hole.
