As part of the continuing endeavour to add even more value to playing Membership of Aberdovey we have recently joined the 'Association of James Braid' courses and also the embryonic 'Fowler Association'. Aberdovey Members can avail themselves of the benefits of these organisations by virtue of the fact that both these eminent course designers had, at different times, a hand in the course layout here.

The Braid Association aims to create greater awareness of his work. As well as winning the Open five times Braid had a hand in designing, rebunkering, remodelling and giving advice on some 350 plus courses in the United Kingdom, whilst also being the Club Professional and Clubmaker at Walton Heath.
Aberdovey Members have the prospect of playing over 40 'Braid' courses at the prevailing Member's Guest green fee rate when pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance stating you are booking under the 'Association of James Braid Courses' scheme. You will be required to provide proof of your Aberdovey membership to the Professional on your arrival - either a handicap certificate or you Bar Discount card. Bookings will only be accepted based on their tee availability.
The 'spirit' of the agreement is that it will not be abused by repeated use at any one course and a limit of no more than two visits in one year to any one course should not be exceeded. The privilege is extended to Aberdovey Members as individuals only and not to a party of golfers.
Full details of the applicable courses, the booking terms and conditions etc can be obtained from the Aberdovey Golf Club office but as an illustration, the following is the Braid course list for 2010.
The Fowler Association is very much in its infancy but has similar aims of allowing limited play at Member's Guest green fee rates at certain Fowler courses - initially Beau Desert Golf Club; others are in the pipeline. Different terms and conditions will apply at the various courses.
