Aberdovey Ladies' Golf Team Win North Wales' Top Title!

In its 125th year, Aberdovey Golf Club ladies' team won the top title in the North Wales Challenge Shield Association’s handicap league competition.

The annual competition sees some 50 teams of five players from over 30 Golf Clubs throughout North Wales competing for the coveted title of Challenge Shield winners.

Aberdovey Ladies played eight matches, their opponents in 2017 were Abersoch, Padeswood & Buckley, Henllys Hall and Baron Hill on Anglesey.  Playing four home and four away matches during the contest, Aberdovey Ladies won seven and drew one so accruing 28 points, six points ahead of their nearest challengers, Baron Hill (who had won the Shield in the previous five years).

Promoted to Division 1 in 2014, the Club has had a great squad of players to draw from.  The 2017 winning squad members were:  Lynn Mamos (Team Captain), Rhian Cooper, Kath Furneaux, Cynthia Tipper, Jenny Tyrrell, Georgina Hatt, Val Nordan, Mary Upson, Julie McAloon, Judy Bouch (Ladies’ Club Captain), Heather Seeley and Sally Wilkinson.
